2020 was a very difficult year for everybody. Moira Gums started operating on 1 March 2020 but very quickly had to shut down due to the first Covid 19 lockdown.
We started up again and were fully booked for the month of July but after 2 weeks, had to shut-down again. One guest who had booked for Term School holidays re-booked for Term 3 holidays in September but had to cancel due to Melbourne restrictions.
It has been impossible for anyone to make plans for a holiday and unfortunately there have been lots of travellers who have had to cancel their holiday plans, due to no fault of their own, and they have been unable to get all of their money back and sometimes, they have been unable to get even a partial refund.
This was when we at Moira Gums decided that if any of our guests had to cancel due to Covid 19 restrictions, we would give them a full refund.
We believe that this policy gives our guests peace of mind and confidence when booking their holidays.
We have been operating since late November and all our guests (two-legged and four-legged) have enjoyed their stay and all that this area has to offer.
Unfortunately, once again, Melbourne and the whole of Victoria is in a stage 4, 5-day lockdown which commenced last night at midnight and will finish on Wednesday evening. This means that no one is able to leave their home for other than essential items and are unable to travel more than 5kms from home. They are also not permitted any visitors or social gatherings
This has caused complete chaos, consternation and disappointment once again. Restaurants and hospitality venues who were fully booked for weddings and Valentines Day are now shut-down. The financial losses are enormous.
We know of one wedding that has been postponed 4 times and was to take place this weekend with 150 guests has had to cancel.
We have guests booked in for 7 nights starting on Monday who though they might have to cancel their booking, but instead, fingers crossed, have postponed their booking for 7 nights starting from Thursday.
